Protecting the health, safety and welfare of the world’s students from the spread of SARS-Cov-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19 disease) is essential to protecting the health, safety and welfare of the entire population. To re-open educational facilities and keep faculty and students safe, ASHRAE has released updated standards to increase IAQ recommendations, including:

- Better humidity control
- Improved filtration
- UV light installation
The guidance from ASHRAE epidemic task force for schools & universities is meant to provide practical information and checklists to school district and university campus environmental health managers, facility managers, administrators, technicians, and service providers to prepare educational buildings to resume occupancy. This information describes how the HVAC systems should be operating to help minimize the chance of spreading SARS-Cov-2 and how to practically check and verify that operation. As owners of a childhood development school, our priority is the wellbeing and safety of our children and staff. Our facility is approximately 8500 square feet with capacity for 100 plus children, ages 6 weeks through 5 years old. In an effort to improve the indoor air quality by reducing overall germs and odors, we began researching products and options that would purify and clean the air our children and staff were breathing.
In January of 2020, we have installed Air Scrubbers by Aerus in our school. They were easy to install. It took us less than 30 minutes per unit. We have been at this school since February of 2007. During this time, we have seen several cases of the flu and other viruses every winter. After the installation, we had 0 (zero) cases of the flu! This is incredible!
We also experience large diapering odors in our toddler classrooms. After the installation, we noticed a decrease in these odors. We also do not see any change to our electric bill.
We highly recommend using these air scrubbers anywhere you have an HVAC system. They have made a real difference for us!
